  1. No Swallows and Amazons, but fun!! Fortunately we’re reading them in order, so we knew the D’s from Winter Holiday. Otherwise I’d have been kind of sad at a Swallows and Amazons book with almost no mention of either set of children. (It’s odd to think that when originally published, it likely seemed that the series had moved on completely away from the original children – little knowing how they’d return for so many more books!)The descriptions of riverine sailing so long ago are magical – when not only did the rivers…

  2. A great adventure book set on the Norfolk Broads in England. This book is part of the Swallows & Amazon set, although The Becketts and Walkers are not in this book. A hire boat full of rowdy “city people” are causing distress to the general boating population and in particular the “Coot Club who are concerned when the city people moor over a rare birds nest. High adventure starts with boats being cast adrift up and down the river. Things escalate and the police are no help solving…
